![]() ![]() Some of the information is fairly explicit. The only time they put any effort into establishing a connection between games is when it's a direct sequel, such as Majora's Mask or Phantom Hourglass. Either they don't bother trying to make a game fit with the rest of the series, or they kinda half-ass it and leave it to us to fill in the blanks. Nintendo is definitely making this up as they go along. Which brings us to LBW, which is supposed to be an indirect sequel to LttP, but that opens up a whole new mess of problems. Skyward Sword avoids the whole mess by going even further back in time. Then TP came along with a completely different series of events and mucked things up even more.Īnd then you've got the Four Sword games, which I'm pretty sure Nintendo didn't even intend to be part of what loosely held together narrative they had. But at least the follow ups to that game are pretty solid, storywise. Then Wind Waker came along with more inconsistencies and confused everything up. OoT was intended to be prequel to LttP, in spite of the MANY inconsistencies, and of course MM was a direct follow up to that. But at least it had a direct follow up in LA. Lore that was promptly ignored when LttP came out, as that game is either a prequel or a sequel to the NES games depending on which day of the week you ask Miyamoto. To me, that points to the anniversary edition being no more important than the BS Zelda games.Ĭlearly there was no plan in mind when LoZ was made, but a deeper lore was developed when AoL came out. This is as opposed to other reissues and re-releases that have their own dedicated sections. To summarize, Four Swords has a nice few pages carved out for it, and the anniversary edition is hardly mentioned. While the Wii version of Twilight Princess is simply listed as a "version" for the game. To compare to other remakes and ports, you have things like Link's Awakening, which lists the DX version alongside the regular one. In the timeline details for Four Swords (pages 82/83) it covers the canonical events and details, but notice how it lacks all content from the expanded DSiWare port. Just like it says "Ocarina of Time" (not ocarina of time 3D). On page 136 makes it a distinction as well, calling it "A Nintendo DSIWare version".īut on the timeline it says "Four Swords". Lists Four Swords as the overarching game, with Anniversary Edition being a port with "added new content". ![]()
